Duality is now "Obversion"!
Obversion » Devlog
Thanks to the feedback I've been getting from everyone, I realized that Duality's the black and white aesthetic was holding me back. Relaxing this constraint lead to a minor creative explosion that let me know I was on the right path. Adding color, made me relax the duality theme enough to change the name (now Obversion), which caused me to create my own font, which made realize I had kind of an art deco aesthetic going on and drove me to change the menu style and pickup textures.
Here's an almost exhaustive list of changes for those that are curious:
- Changed World 1 white cubes to have hammered gold texture
- World 1 has a gold spiral skybox with vanishing point at zenith and nadir
- Similar changes for Worlds 2-4
- All black cubes are now metalic with art decoish reflective pattern
- Changed name to Obversion
- All text now uses new "Obversion" font
- Creation and destruction pickups are now both white. Text within is also just white
- Added vaguely art deco texture to creation and destruction pickups
- Added voxel based cube creation detection if face base creation fails (should make it easier to create over the edge)
- Removed "gun" hoops. There is now just a copy of a positive or negative pickup instead
- The gates between worlds no longer requires a certain number of yin yangs to be collected
- Removed quotes during scene loading
- Made demo shorter and give teaser of World 2 appearance
- Menu select status now uses stylized corners instead of blurred strikethrough background
